Transport Information
At Omnia, we understand how important safe, consistent, and reliable transport is for our students. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions families ask about home–school transport.
Who arranges the transport?
Parents and carers apply for school transport directly through their local authority’s Home/School Transport Team.
During your child’s induction period with Omnia, the Foundation will support temporary transport arrangements until the local authority contract is confirmed. This will be discussed in detail at your initial meeting with us.
Is the cost of transport paid for by the school?
No. Transport is organised and funded by the local authority, which awards a contract (typically every 2–3 years) to an external provider.
Our current contracted provider is Kinect, which may use their own drivers or subcontract to local taxi companies.
Who should I contact if I have a question about transport?
Your first point of contact will be our school team, who can help answer general queries.
However, because the transport contract is held by the local authority, we may need to direct you to the contract provider for certain changes or issues.
What are the pick-up and drop-off times, and how flexible can they be?
Pick-up and drop-off times are set by the contract holder, not the school.
We will always advocate for our students and communicate any challenges they may be experiencing. However, the local authority and contract provider have the right to review or withdraw transport if a student is unable to consistently access it.
How will I be informed about delays or changes to transport times?
Communication about delays or timetable changes should come directly from the contract holder.
While this system works well most of the time, we recognise it is not always perfect. We maintain strong working relationships with many drivers, which allows us to help relay information on occasion, although we cannot guarantee this, as we do not manage the contract.
What happens if there is an incident or concern during transport?
Drivers are responsible for following their own safeguarding procedures for any incidents that occur while a student is in their care.
Our team checks in with students each morning, and if a concern is raised, we will follow our internal reporting and safeguarding procedures to ensure appropriate action is taken.
