Our FIRST Values
Fairness
Fairness is treating people justly, not letting your personal feelings bias your decisions about others. You want to give everyone a fair chance, and believe there should be equal opportunity for all, though you also realize that what is fair for one person might not be fair for another.
Pupils and staff understand that learning and progress will look different with each pupil and that each pupil will receive the right intervention at the right time appropriate to their individual needs.
Integrity
A person with integrity demonstrates sound moral and ethical principles and does the right thing, no matter who’s watching. Integrity is the foundation on which people build relationships and trust, and it is one of the fundamental values that employers seek in the employees that they hire
Pupils and staff understand the importance of doing what is right rather than what is easy regardless of what others say or do.
Respect
Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they’re different from you or you don’t agree with them. Respect in your relationships builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing. Respect doesn’t have to come naturally – it is something you learn.
Pupils and staff understand that Respect means Treating others the way they want to be treated, being considerate and honoring the feelings, opinions, and property of others. Pupils and staff understand that Self-respect means ‘Being good to myself and not putting myself down; taking care of myself’.
Self-Belief
Self-belief is a person’s belief in their ability to complete tasks and to achieve their goals (Bandura, 1995). Judging yourself to be capable of success increases your chances of actual success.
Pupils and staff understand their strengths, their areas for further development and their capacity to grow and develop. Pupils and staff demonstrate a positive, growth mindset when thinking about themselves and setting targets, they can recognise their own potential, reflect on past achievements and consider what they can become.
Teamwork
Teamwork is working respectfully and effectively with a group and doing your share, it is more than getting along with people, it is the ability to put a groups needs above your own.
Pupils and staff understand that open communication, self-control, trust and shared values are key characteristics to being able to work in a team.
